Firm LLC has contacts back to 1913, which was the first year of Federal
Income Tax, beginning with the private practice of John V. Lee (St.
Louis University Law Class of 1913).
In 1917, a
merger created the firm of Gatewood and Lee. John V. Lee continued
the firm of Lee, Fricke and Lee to his death in 1951, followed by Frank
Lee (St. Louis University Law Class of 1922) to 1963, specializing in Litigation, Personal Injury, Commercial
Law, Debtor, Creditor Rights and Bankruptcy.
Next Donald A.
Doheny (Harvard Law Class of 1949), son-in-law of John V. Lee joined as Of Counsel to Frank
Lee in 1962. In 1986, John V. Doheny (University of Dayton, Class
of 1985), grandson of John V. Lee,
joined as Of Counsel to Donald A. Doheny, Sr.
William J.
Doheny, C.S.C., uncle of Donald A. Doheny, Sr., was appointed to the
Roman Rota, the Supreme Court of the Roman Catholic Church.
Monsignor Doheny died in 1982 after serving in Rome for over 20 years as
a canon lawyer in Matrimonial procedures, including publishing of
numerous books.
